Wayne began his career working in residential mortgages for 5 years. After this, he chose to pursue his passion of affordable housing with Austin Habitat for Humanity, completing two years of AmeriCorps service. He then earned his Master of Public Affairs from the LBJ School, focusing on non-profit management, while still remaining active with Austin Habitat for Humanity as a volunteer. After some time working in the private sector with Low Income Housing Tax Credits, he re-joined the Austin Habitat team in the Client Service department, where he helped shepherd a comprehensive systems upgrade. He then moved to the Development team to manage government grants, where he was asked to rejoin the Client Services department and lead the team there. He is now responsible for administering and managing the systems, processes, and policies for the homeownership programs of both Austin Habitat and HomeBase. Wayne has since implemented a deed restriction model at both AHFH and HomeBase and is working towards the building and sale of the first Community Land Trust units for AHFH.
